Supporting details.....

My thesis statement is approved.... finally!!!! Now, I can focus on my supporting details. Writing a thesis statement isn't an easy one you know. Before come up with the final thesis statement, only God knows how many times I have rewritten it! Well, I have written four supporting details for my argument on the position paper. Skimming and scanning through the novel "The Awakening" provides me with evidences that can be quoted for my paper. I didn't find it difficult as I’ve studied the text before and the protagonist, Edna really makes me to explore more about her. Edna's desire for freedom has a lot of things to argue about. When someone achieving his/her freedom, it is seen to be positive but in this case, I rather say it brings negative effects on Edna's life. I’ve always had these in mind, "There is no way to FREEDOM, and freedom is the way......."

Thesis statement approved.....!!

After, reconstruct and rewrite the sentences, I have my thesis statement approved by Miss Siti. It’s great because until thesis statement not settles, I couldn’t proceed with everything. It’s good that we have Miss Siti to assist us in writing our position paper. Now, I learnt that a good thesis statement should not be in a question form and shouldn’t shows a relationship of cause and effect because you’ll tend to have both sided in mind and unable to justify your stand. Now that thesis statement ready, my next task is to design an outline of what I want to put in my position paper… Adios…!

Myth and Legend: Great piece of work!

Myth and legend can be a form of easy reading in the classroom. It’s a kind of reading that I think all of us are familiar with and close to our beliefs and culture. Long before media was invented, myth and legend had become the source of entertainment to the people during that time. This type of reading can be use in the English Literature classroom during the set induction and also appropriate to be included as a closure in a lesson. The text can be useful in the early stage of the lesson because the text is short and students are familiarize with the story. Perhaps for closure, teacher may want to read out a story about myth and legend to students as a form of rewards for behaving good students and plus a way to grab students’ attention after a hours of facing only dry stuff on the books… I’ll consider this piece of works!!

Thesis statement.....

The first minor project we are required to work on is to write a position paper. This is actually to prepare us in developing our research paper later on. In a position paper, thesis statement stands as a point for argument. It's not an easy task to come out with a strong thesis statement. The thesis statement shouldn’t be too general and needed to be narrowed down so that we’ll have a point on what to focus on. If it’s too general, we’ll tend to lose sight of what we want to tell the readers about our stand and later we might ‘go around the bush’, writing overlapping and ideas not smooth flowing. Therefore, it’s important to construct a really effective and powerful thesis statement before started to think of supporting points. I tell myself… “Until I didn’t get the first step right, I wouldn’t be able to proceed to the next step….” (^-^)

Second briefing.....

After the second briefing by Dr. Edwin, I’ve make sure that myself is clear of what to write and deal with in writing our position paper. Earlier on, I thought that this writing would be like an argumentative writing but I was wrong. In position paper, I need to take up and build a stand to what I believe to be true and relevant. Not solely emotion and sensation of what I believe in but also maintaining a tougher ‘wall’ to protect myself from hitting by a bomb….?? How’s that??? (Meaning that a stand that I could not be easily run down or influenced by anything and anybody…) Emm... Peace... Say No to WAR!!

Introduction......

For this subject, we are asked to write a position paper in which a starter in guiding us to write our research paper. Would it be difficult…? I don’t think so. I guess??? Hahaha…. Writing a position paper would be like writing an argumentative essay… Need to have a focus on what you wanted to write and most importantly, the thesis statement which this will guide you and stay on track on what you stand for in the writing soon. Huh... I better write something that I’m familiar with… maybe a novel. Yes, I like works by Kate Chopin, wouldn’t be great to look at her works? I would consider this idea!!
