It's a never ending journey..... For Me!!!

I’ve submitted my research paper today… Such a relief! Phew… After 14 weeks of lectures and along come the assignments and everything... I still feel that it’s a never ending journey for me now. However, I have realized that blogging actually give me more freedom in me expresses myself. This is a space with no barriers that I could pour everything out…!! Hope, in my teaching in the future, I can introduce to my students to use blog as a form of them to practice their writing skills. That would be interesting. Of course, some motivation to them would do a better idea for them to work on. Also, writing of position paper and research paper has actually helped me in working on the literary text critically and at connotative level. The requirement of this subject EDU 3234 is a challenging task. However, in doing this will in a way give us the idea on how to write a research paper when furthering our studies. A lot of things need to be learnt… So whatever it takes, I need to go on and overcome it!! I simply put it this way….An ongoing process with everlasting knowledge…! Thank you…!

Speech...

Today, the speech by Martin Luther King. Jr. really powerful and inspiring. I read it before but have not got the chance to really analyze the text. The uses of rhetoric in his speech brought a kind of 'realization' to me because one thing, I do like to read about politics and the issue like discrimination, equality and sacrifice interest me to read more of his works. In Malaysia, there are not much of speeches being produced by our prominent icons that can be use in analyzing in the classroom. Although the speech is in a form of writing product, this can also be used in speaking lesson because teacher can actually adapt this speech to be analyzed in the English Literature classroom in terms of the sentences structures, theme, personality traits and imageries. Also, it is a good example of using authentic text in helping students to get the idea of the issues more clearly. See, just by using a speech, I can actually develop a teaching lesson on Literature.... Wonderful... Isn't it???

Shooting an elephant?? Why??

When reading for the first time, I find this essay really interesting. However, the title did not really reflect what I have in mind. I thought this essay could be something easy and humorous! Well, story of an elephant?? I don't find it got to do with Colonizer and Colonized??? After discussing the essay with Miss Siti in the class today, I realized that... wow there is issue in this piece of work! About people in high position in dilemma of whether to be human or inhuman towards those around them. Well, it does happen in our political system, don’t they?

Meeting my supervisor personally....

Hi again...After my meeting with Pn. Juridah, my supervisor, I felt confident to continue writing my research paper. Before, I have been restating my idea again and again! I mean, the thesis statement, my focus of research and supporting details to put in. The discussion with her, open up lots of fresh idea about what influences Karim Raslan's writing. I like her idea of the Original sin of the world; Adam and Eve', and interesting part is the upbringing of Karim Raslan. Well, I actually never known that Karim Raslan was brought up overseas and had come to Malaysia to like 'find his own identity'???? ermm.. These ideas adding up to my points to do my research and I really hope that I am able to hand in my draft next week.

Presentation....

Meeting with Pn. Juridah does help us in determine whether we are progressing accordingly to what our topics of research are. It is good to have a short presentation of our outline to her as she is able to see what we have work on after selecting our topic of research. Not only Pn. Juridah commented on our idea of the research, also my friends which in the same supervision give ideas as well. It’s good to work as a group rather than working alone. From here, I learnt that everyone have different views and opinions. We couldn’t assume that everybody accepts what we have in mind. Through this small discussion with my fellow course mate, we have a better discussion on paper than just talking nonsense about unrelated stuff. Oh yes... I’ve presented my position paper too. I’m wandering what marks would I get from Miss Siti. I’ll let you know once it’s ready… Till then, bye…!

Redrafting....

I knew it…!! Remember I told you about something missing in my outline? Definitely, it does… Lucky me, I managed to asked Chui Kiang’s opinion about my outline. She corrected me on two points which she thinks need to be more powerful and the arrangement of my topic sentences. I redrafting my outline and showed it to Miss Siti… Well, she approved and like my last point! See… It’s nice to have other people point of view especially in writing because you never know what other might react or respond to our ideas. The same thing goes in communication. Something we need to look and aware of other people feelings about what we think or feel is right may not be alright to others… J Letting others to comment are actually the best way to learn form making mistakes…! Gracias…!!!!!

Submission of position paper.....

Wow…!! Feel great upon my submission of the position paper. Now I can work on my research paper full-time. (*-*) I’ve thinking of working on two different short stories. Well, what I have in mind is to do a research on issue about women…. Like writer’s treatment towards women or…. Inequality in female characters... This kind of stuff. I beat; there must be a lot of information on the net to search for... Get my idea ready, and then perhaps if I’m prepared with my information next week, then I can arrange a meeting with Pn. Juridah and ask her to have a look at it… Alright, just wait for my next news. Hope Pn. Juridah has something to comment on. See ya!
